Sony Xperia E4g combines round design of the Xperia E4 with 4G LTE

The Sony Xperia E4 debuted earlier this month with a rounded design that's different that the Xperia smartphones that've come before it. However, its lack of LTE may have been a turn-off for some prospective buyers. Now Sony is back with a new device that fills that missing point on the E4's spec list.

The Xperia E4g is an updated version of the Xperia E4 that boasts a similar design but includes 4G LTE connectivity, whereas the E4's tops out at HSPA+ speeds. The E4g's quad-core processor is also clocked slightly higher than the E4's, coming out of the box at 1.5GHz rather than 1.3GHz.

The remainder of the Xperia E4g's spec list is largely similar to the Xperia E4's. It's got NFC, a stainless steel camera ring with a 5-megapixel rear sensor, a 5-inch display, and a 2300mAh battery that Sony says can last for up to two days. It's also going to be available in single SIM and dual SIM variants.

The Sony Xperia E4g will launch in both black and white versions at a price of €129 ($146 USD). That's pretty cheap for an Android 4.4.4 smartphone that's got a 5-inch screen, quad-core processor, 4G LTE connectivity, and a battery that can last up to two days on a single charge. Sony says that it's got no plans to bring the Xperia E4g to the U.S. right now, but if you're in another market and you're in the hunt for a low-cost smartphone, you may want to keep an eye out for this thing.
