Isis Wallet announced back in July that it would be rebranding in order to avoid association with the violent Islamic militant group of the same name. Needless to say, associating a company with terrorists can be bad for business. Today, Michael Abbot, CEO announced that the new name for the company: Softcard.
"Our search for a new name has been rooted in our founding vision: to use the power of the mobile phone to help consumers find a safer and better way to shop, pay and save. But we also wanted a name and visual identity that had the power, flexibility and simplicity to define our category."
The switch should take place within the next few weeks, with an updated Softcard application. The name change can be seen with a simple update as of right now, but small traces of Isis will be visible for a short time.
