Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 getting performance update in coming days

Alcatel OneTouch promised they were committed to keeping their unlocked budget phone, the Idol 3, updated as often as needed to ensure it has the best user experience possible. Today we were informed that a new over-the-air update is being released very soon. The update will contain refinements to camera performance, general performance enhancements and improvements to the double-tap to unlock functionality.

I'm glad to hear that the Idol 3 update will bring performance enhancements. When I reviewed the Idol 3, I felt my experience with the device was nearly flawless, but I've read more than one instance on social media of early buyers experiencing performance issues. So, I'm not sure if there was an update between the pre-release software I was using and the software that was shipped, but I hope this update can solve the issues people were experiencing.

In addition to the performance issues, camera updates are always awesome. And I did mention in our Idol 3 review the the double-tap to wake functionality wasn't up to snuff. I love double-tap to wake. So, I'm glad they're working to improve it.

If you're not yet familiar with the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 yet, be sure to check out our review. I really enjoyed the phone. It's available now from Alcatel's website or Amazon for the amazing price of $249.99. We've been told Idol 3 owners will start seeing this update available in the coming days.
