Sony’s Xperia Z4v will hit Verizon on August 13

Sony doesn't release many phones in North America, but it's got a new one headed to the US via an exclusive partnership with Verizon. The Xperia Z4v is a high-end device that shares many specs with the Xperia Z3+, but it adds a QHD (2560×1440) resolution to the 5.2-inch display, a 3000mAh battery and the ability to charge wirelessly. Other specs are the same such as the Snapdragon 810 processor, 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera and IP65/IP68 dust and water proofing certification.

While the phone was revealed last month, we're only just now finding out when it'll become available. Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Z4v will be available through Verizon on August 13, putting it just about a month away. Interested customers will be able to snag the Xperia Z4v in black and white color options when it's released.

While Sony Mobile's CEO stated in a new interview that the company isn't planning on leaving the mobile market, it may need to do some serious rethinking of its North American strategy. The US market is enormous and Sony isn't going to capture much of it with one phone released through an exclusive carrier partnership.
