Both T-Mobile and MetroPCS will have devices available from Alcatel OneTouch this fall. The carriers will both offer entry-level devices in the form of the Fierce 2 and the Evolve 2. Through T-Mobile, the monthly price for each handset with an equipment installment plan will not exceed $5.50; therefore, it is pretty clear that this device is targeted at someone getting a smartphone for the first time or someone in need of a budget device. T-Mobile and MetroPCS are the first carriers to be getting these two from Alcatel OneTouch.
The Fierce 2 is the stronger of the two devices announced today. It has a 5-inch display, though the resolution is qHD, and packs a quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The 4GB of internal storage is met with a 32GB microSD card slot. A 5MP camera is on the back and a VGA camera sits up front. The Fierce 2 is powered by a 2000mAh battery. With $0 down, the Fierce 2 costs $5.25 per month for two years.
The Evolve 2, on the other hand, is a little different. The display is a smaller 4 inches and the resolution is lowered to WVGA. The dual-core processor is clocked at 1.3GHz and the amount of RAM is 512MB. Like the Fierce 2, the Evolve 2 has 4GB of storage with a microSD card slot. A 5MP is on the back, again, but the front has a VGA camera. There is a 1400mAh battery and the monthly price for the Evolve 2 is $3.30 across twenty-four months.
Both devices ship with Android 4.4 KitKat. T-Mobile will have both d evices available on September 10 with MetroPCS following that release later this fall.
