Android 5.1.1 Now Rolling Out To The Nexus 7 And Nexus 10

Only a week after the Nexus Player received its Android 5.1.1 update, Google has finally continued the rollout to other devices.

Just two weeks after Android 5.1 was released for the Nexus 7 2013, Google has now released factory images for not only the Nexus 7 2013, but also the older 2012 model. The OTA update has yet to be seen but it shouldn't take long for that to happen. As for the Nexus 10 however, a user has confirmed the OTA update for the tablet has begun. Factory images for the Nexus 10 are also now available to flash.

I have no words as to why Google is leaving Nexus 9 users out in the cold, as they still have not received Android 5.1, let alone any incremental bugfix updates. It could be due to complications with the NVIDIA Tegra K1 SoC powering the device, but that has yet to be proven.

Android 5.1.1 OTA hits Nexus 10 as more factory images arrive

If you're a Nexus 10 owner that's managed to resist moving to newer Android tablets, your loyalty is about to be rewarded.

Android 5.1.1 looks to be starting its rollout to the Nexus 10. One N10 owner received an OTA update to 5.1.1 today, which weighed in at a paltry 13.9MB. Google has also posted the 5.1.1 factory image for the N10, which is build LMY47V.

In addition to the Nexus 10 factory image, Google has put up Android 5.1.1 images for both the Nexus 7 (2012) and the Nexus 7 (2013).

We haven't heard much about Android 5.1.1 ever since we spotted a couple of references to the update on a Google web page a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like the rollout may finally be getting underway. That's exciting news for everyone, but especially for the Nexus 9, which is still on Android 5.0.

Livescribe+ Preview App Hits Google Play Store, Will Work With Livescribe 3 Smartpen

Livescribe announced at CES that they would be bringing Android support to their market-leading smartpen and now that time has come. They have released two apps, each carrying the "preview" label, to the Play Store. The apps will work with existing Livescribe 3 pens, which originally only had mobile software support on iOS. A small selection of applications will now open directly when using certain voice commands. For example, you can now say "Ok Google, find houses near me on Zillow" and Google will automatically start the Zillow app, showing a map of properties near your current location (this also works with the applications for Trulia and Realtor.com).
