Hasbro Play-Doh TOUCH turns your real life creations into semi-terrifying virtual creatures

Most of us played with Play-Doh at some point in our childhood, but these days kids can take their creations virtual. Hasbro's new Play-Doh TOUCH app lets you scan things you make and place them in a virtual world. While it's technically for Play-Doh creations, it works with anything that appears to have limbs.

Hasbro sells a special "Life Studio" kit with several colors of building materials and a built-in scanning area, but you don't technically need any of that—just find a white backdrop and something to scan.

Gboard (formerly Google Keyboard) hits 500 million installs in the Play Store

There are many, many keyboard apps in the Play Store, but Google Keyboard has long been my go-to option. With the Gboard re-branding, Google added a few long-awaited features like multiple active languages and integrated search. That was enough to push it over the 500 million download threshold, joining apps like Photos, Dropbox, and Super-Bright LED Flashlight.

The bracket Gboard has entered is technicall y 500 million to 1 billion.

The previously announced Google Play billing for Drive storage is already live for some

Google announced a couple weeks ago that billing for Google Drive would move over to the Play Store subscription system. At the time it said this would happen sometime in January, but it looks like it's already live for some people. Time to check your Google Play account page.

The subscription prices themselves aren't going to change, you'll just manage the subscription in a different place. It makes sense to move it, though.

OnePlus delivering Nougat to OnePlus 3 and 3T

OnePlus has announced that it has begun its rollout of OxygenOS 4.0 to the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The most notable change in OxygenOS 4.0 is the upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat, which includes a number of changes and improvements such as a new notification design, multi-window support, and a more organized Settings menu. In addition to Nougat, OnePlus is also including status bar icon options and improved shelf customization.

The OTA rollout will begin today, with a broader rollout occurring in the days ahead. For those who prefer the beta route, the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 (N) is now being offered for the OnePlus 3T. As always, flashing is conducted at the user's own risk and there is the potential for plenty of bugs in beta software, so take some time to consider your options before loading it on a daily driver.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Nougat update expected to arrive in January

Samsung has been running a beta test of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge for awhile, but now the test is coming to an end and a public release might be around the corner.

Now that Samsung is bringing the beta test to an end, it has emailed beta testers and told them that the public release for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge should arrive in early January. In the email, Samsung said, "We would do our best to distribute the official version in January as soon as possible."

While there's no specific date to circle on the calendar just yet, owners of the flagship devices at least have a general period of time to look forward to. Of course, while Samsung has plans to release the software in early January, it doesn't necessarily guarantee that the update will actually arrive then.

Are you looking forward to the new software?

Moto X (2017) revealed in new leaks

The Lenovo-owned Motorola has plans to launch a new Moto X in 2017, if a series of leaks is any indicator.

Android Authority and @OnLeaks have published factory CAD-based renders and video of what is being called the "Moto X (2017)." The official name of the handset isn't known yet, so this device may launch as something other than "Moto X (2017)."

The Moto X (2017) boasts a similar design to the Moto Z, which launched this year, but there are a few key differences. First, the new Moto X will boast a thicker frame at 150 x 73.8 x 8.4 mm (9.5 mm with camera bump). To compare, the Moto Z is only 5.2mm thin, and the Moto Z Force is 7mm thin.

Moto X 2017 leak2

The Moto X (2017) will apparently also feature a 5.2-inch display and a microUSB port, and not USB Type-C. It will also boast a 3.5mm headphone jack for good measure.

The report also expects that the new Moto X will be a mid-range handset, with Lenovo keeping the Moto Z lineup the flagship range.

What do you think of the renders?
