Is Motorola Working On A Shatterproof Moto?

Moto Bounce

When it comes to high end durable device there aren't a ton of options.  Samsung's Active series probably offers the best combination of style, durability and processing power but if a new leak is to be believed, Samsung may have some new competition.

The increasingly active leakster @upleaks has Tweeted out a new device called the Motorola Bounce and as the name suggests, this phone is built to… well… handle a bounce or two.  According to the leakster, the device will be shatterproof.  While he doesn't quite specify what on the phone is shatterproof you kind of assume he's talking about the screen.  And if you look closely at the picture it appears that the frame has some cushion to it as well which should help absorb some of that impact in case of a drop or fall.

In terms of internal specs, the device is said to sport a 5.43″ QHD display, Snapdragon 810 processor, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, 21MP camera, 5MP front facing camera and a 3760 mAh battery.  @upleaks claims that it will be available in December so it may be a little while before we hear anything official from Motorola.

A Third Moto 360 Emerges?!?

Moto 360 - 3

Although Motorola still hasn't said anything, we know that there will be two variants of the Moto 360 this year: the Moto 360L and Moto 360S.  Well if those two models don't float your boat it then perhaps this third model will.  Yup, you read that right.  According to a recent Tweet by @upleaks, there will be a third Moto 360 to hit the market, the Moto 360 Sport.

As the name implies, the Moto 360 Sport is much… well sportier.  Rather than metal or leather, the band appears to be made of some sort of rubber-ish material.  All in all, it looks much more fitness band like than classy smart watch.  Unfortunately @upleaks wasn't able to provide any other details regarding specs but chances are it will vary at least a little bit from the other models.

What do you guys think of this third Moto 360?

Blackberry Venice Shown Off From All Angles

Blackberry Venice - 1

The Blackberry Venice has been surfacing time and time again but this latest leak is probably one our best looks at Blackberry's slider yet.  A series of photos have surfaced and they show off Blackberry's upcoming device from all angles.

While we don't really see anything new in these photos we do get a great look at the 4 row QWERTY keyboard and what appears to be a large speaker grill below the keyboard.  The back looks to have a carbon fiber-esque design to it and, as previously reported, the phone will feature a 16MP camera with OIS and "fast focus" (perhaps phase detection autofocus?).

The mobile market could definitely use a solid Android QWERTY option and the Venice could definitely be that phone.  Still no word on when Blackberry will officially release it but it feels like we're getting close.

Samsung Australia confirms Gear S2 headed locally

gear-s2

Samsung's much anticipated first attempt at a smartwatch with a true circular display has been announced and we now know it'll arrive in Australia.

The Samsung Gear S2 isn't an Android Wear smartwatch. It's very much a follow-up to last year's Gear 2 smartwatch and as such, it runs Samsung's own TizenOS and if history has shown, it stands a likely chance of being compatible only with select Samsung handsets. There is no mention however of whether Samsung will open the Gear S2 to support handsets outside of Samsung's own range, but we suspect that'll be confirmed closer to release.

Features wise, the Gear S2 is hoping to amaze with its unique rotating bezel, allowing users to do things like ...

Samsung introduces the Tizen-based Gear S2 and S2 Classic

Samsung has two new smartwatches to share with the world today, both running on the Samsung-backed Tizen OS, not Android Wear. The Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic are Samsung's latest attempt at a more rounded smartwatch.

Both the Gear S2 and S2 Classic come with a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display at 360×360, or 302ppi, 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, IP68 water and dust resistance, a bevy of sensors, 250mAh battery, NFC for mobile payments, a rotating bezel for navigation and run on Tizen OS. There's also a 3G enabled version of the S2 with a 300mAh battery and "the first-ever e-SIM with voice capability, to perform quick functions without being closely tethered to their phone."

Though identical internally, externally the Gear S2 features a sleek, minimal and modern design, while the Classic sports a more traditional design with a leather band. Both devices have not been priced and their release dates are still unknown. They will, however, both be on display at IFA this week.
