Folks in Europe seeking a entry-level handset with quality software now have an option in the form of the Sparkle V. The handset, manufactured by Karbonn, is a product of Android One. Through Amazon UK, the Sparkle V is available for £129 and the retailer will discount it on Black Friday to £99.
The great thing about this handset (and all others under Android One) is the guaranteed software updates. Google is in charge of software updates with Android One and promises a device will be up-to-date for two years following launch. The Sparkle V ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat; however, we fully expect Android 5.0 Lollipop to arrive very soon.
The hardware specifications from this Karbonn handset is unsurprising at its price, but it will suffice for its target consumer. The 4.5-inch screen has a resolution of 854×480. The component keeping the price low is the quad-core processor from MediaTek clocked at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM. The internal storage is set at 4GB but it is expandable thanks to the microSD card slot. On the back is a 5MP camera while the front has a 2MP camera.
