Android Wear companion app updated with new design and features

Google is sending out an update to the Android Wear companion app that brings in a visual refresh and a few new features. The app itself has been updated to include more Material Design elements, and new facets of that include further shadowing and an enhanced sense of layering and depth. Device related settings are now seen when you tap on a specific device, rather than being on the main page with the general Android Wear settings.

The big new feature is Cloud Sync, which essentially enables Wi-Fi on Android Wear devices. Cloud Sync allows you to receive notifications, use voice search and more when your watch and phone aren't connected by Bluetooth. Whenever your phone joins a Wi-Fi network, the info is automatically sent to your watch, allowing it to use the Wi-Fi network as well. A heads-up, however, Cloud Sync does require you to have the latest version of Android Wear on your device in order to use it.

All in all, this is a pretty solid update, and we're particularly excited about Cloud Sync. Get updating both the companion app and the firmware and let us know how you like it!
