OnePlus said that its "game changer" would make its debut in April, and now that April 1 has rolled around, that's exactly what's happened.
The OnePlus DR-1 is a drone that, yes, is an April Fools' joke. Unlike most other April Fools' products that we're going to see today, though, OnePlus actually sold its drone to consumers for $19.99. The package includes the DR-1, a drone with four spinning blacks, orientation LEDs, and a 100mAh battery that'll give you five to eight minutes of flying time and can be recharged in 20 minutes. The package also includes a control pad.
Unfortunately, because the DR-1 is an April Fools' joke product, OnePlus only offered a "limited quantity" of its drone. That scarcity combined with the DR-1's $20 price tag means that the drone sold out quickly.
Many folks speculated that OnePlus's "game changer" could be some sort of gaming device or controller, but it turned out to be a simple prank. At least some people are going to benefit from the whole joke by getting a real drone on the cheap, though.
Were any of you able to get a OnePlus DR-1 before it sold out?
