Samsung has used Touchwiz to differentiate its Android products for as long as I can remember. While it really has come a long way since its inception, there are still a significant number complaints about it causing performance issues on even the latest and greatest hardware.
One example of this is the horrible RAM management on Samsung's flagship smartphones this year like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 despite both coming with at least 3GB of RAM.
However, a new rumour suggests that Google is considering on helping Samsung optimize its proprietary user interface. One reason for this is because Samsung phones dominate the Android market, Touchwiz needs to be more efficient such that it doesn't negatively harm the underlying OS's image as a fast and (now) beautiful mobile platform.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been leaked for the Note 5 and it features quite a few changes in order to fit Marshmallow's theme.
