OnePlus is making a custom ROM called OxygenOS

OnePlus is making its own custom ROM that now has a name: OxygenOS. OxygenOS will be a customized version of Android that OnePlus says will be "open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features." While the OnePlus One has been using CyanogenMod, it seems that OnePlus wants to break away from that and use its own ROM that's based off of Android. It's not terribly surprising considering some of the bugs and update issues that the OnePlus One has faced while using CyanogenMod.

OnePlus is still working hard to support the current One, and it's hard to say when a successor will arrive. Before a new device from OnePlus, it seems likely that we'll see the OnePlus One updated to run OxygenOS rather than CyanogenMod. While there aren't any details at the moment, OnePlus says that it will release more information regarding OxygenOS on February 12. We'll be here to cover all the news, so stay tuned for more!
