The Galaxy S7 Active is real, according to Samsung’s Level app

Last year's Galaxy S6 drew high praise from many reviewers, but one noted drawback was that the device lacked water and dust resistance, which had been a selling point for the Galaxy S5. To help quell some of the complaints, Samsung created the Galaxy S6 Active, a more ruggedized version of the popular flagship. The Galaxy S6 Active featured dust and water resistance as well as a larger battery, but was restricted to AT&T.

This year, Samsung added dust and water resistance to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, solving the issue that arose last year. According to the Samsung Level app, however, Samsung has a Galaxy S7 Active in the works. The app lists all supported devices and included in that list is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

With the standard Galaxy S7 already packing dust and water resistance, SamMobile theorizes that the Galaxy S7 Active may feature military grade protection, with an alternative design to go along with it. This level of ruggedization would provide protection against liquids, drops, particles, shocks, and more. Additionally, the Galaxy S7 Active could feature a larger battery, much like its predecessor.

Unfortunately, we don't know any details regarding the availability on the Galaxy S7 Active. It's a mystery as to when it will be released, and whether or not it will be available on more carriers than just AT&T. Keep it locked on Android and Me for more info on the Galaxy S7 Active.
