Android Finally Surpasses iOS In Tablet Marketshare

Ever since the iPad was launched in early 2010, it remained as the most popular tablet in terms of sales numbers per quarter and marketshare. Apple's iOS was topping the tablet OS marketshare for what it seemed like forever and Android was the one always trailing behind, until now. The day has finally come for Android in the tablet space because Gartner has released the numbers today and they seem really surprising.

According to them, Android attained 62% marketshare in 2013 whereas iOS dropped significantly to 36%.

As for the specific tablet marketshare (not the OS), Apple comes out as the winner again in 2013 with 70.4 million sales. Samsung sold slightly more than half with 37.4 million tablets but the gap between the two is closing fast.

This trend is certain to continue for the near future, as tablets like the Nexus 7 offer a really good performance to price ratio and Samsung throws everything in the kitchen sink to see what sticks and goes with it. For more details, hit the source link below to check out the full report.
