Google Play celebrates second birthday with lots of deals

After going through a couple iterations, Google finally decided to brand their version of an app store, along with music, movies, books and other stuff, as Google Play. It may be hard to believe, but that move to unify their online stores and implement a single brand occurred only two years ago. To help celebrate the anniversary of that change, Google is holding a "Happy Birthday" celebration with deals on a variety of goodies.

Google has specials on apps like QuizUp and The Sims FreePlay which are both listed as free, while other games like FIFA 14 or Heroes of Dragon Age are making special in-app offers available. For music lovers, several albums like Notorious BIG's Greatest Hits or the disco classic Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees or Black Sabbath's Paranoid are available for only $3.99 while other individual songs are free. There are several ebooks available for only 99 cents, notably several Dr. Seuss titles while some fairly new movie releases like Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Red 2 are available at discounted prices. For good measure, Google has thrown in a few TV shows and some magazine subscriptions as well.
