During Google's keynote presentation for Google I/O 2014 yesterday, one of the demo videos shown to the audience highlighted some of the new graphics properties that will be available to developers in Android L. The video shared a little rivalry that put on display the graphic tools that will be available via the Android Extension Pack. To help highlight the potential, Google enlisted the aid of Epic games and their Unreal Engine 4 and NVIDIA with their Tegra K1 processor which is a 64-bit processor. Be sure to check out the video below to see how close Android will be getting to matching desktop level DirectX 11 graphics.

Gaming and graphics are not the only areas that will see the benefit of the combination of Android L's support for 64-bit processor and a 64-bit processor like the Tegra K1. NVIDIA's top end chip is also helping power the new Android TV platform, an Android Auto solution, and it is a key part of Project Tango. For the Android TV platform, NVIDIA has developed an Android reference design based on the Tegra K1 and Google is handing out Tegra devkits for those that want to start working on set top boxes or TVs based on Android TV.

For the work Google is doing with the Open Automotive Alliance on Android Auto, NVIDIA has developed a Tegra visual computing module (VCM) that automakers can slide right into their existing models as a sort of turnkey solution to deploy Android Auto. NVIDIA also points out that the VCM software is updateable, so new features can be added in the future.

Another devkit that Google is making available to developers is a Tegra K1 powered Project Tango tablet kit. Besides powering the tablets, the Tegra K1 brings some 3D and Computer Vision power to the table.

Check out the videos below to get an idea of how the Tegra K1 will help power some of the new technologies Google announced yesterday. Be sure to watch for more coverage from TalkAndroid on Google I/O 2014.
