Verizon resurrects DROID RAZR M as Luge by Motorola for prepaid accounts

After a leak earlier this week, Verizon has introduced a "new" phone for customers opting for the prepaid route, but it has a distinctly "old" feel to it. The Luge by Motorola appears to be a re-skinned Motorola DROID RAZR M smartphone and some are even suggesting these may be unsold units. In any case, the Luge is now available through Verizon for only $199 with no contract and no service bundle included, although you can get on Verizon's 4G LTE network with the device.

The DROID RAZR M Luge is not going to knock any socks off with its performance or hardware specs, hardly a surprise for a two-year old device. When the original was released it was considered a budget-tier smartphone and this latest incarnation moves it even further down the chain. Still, if you need something cheap that works, you could do worse.

Unlike the original release of this 4.3-inch smartphone, Motorola has updated the Luge to come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. It comes with a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor and 1 GB of RAM. While it does have a microSD slot so users can add to the 8 GB of internal memory with up to 32 GB of additional memory, the 2000 mAh battery is not removable.

If you are looking for an inexpensive smartphone to tap into Verizon's 4G LTE network without being locked into a contract, hit the source break for additional information and to place an order.
