Switching carriers is a big decision for a lot of people, so obviously incentives are something worth considering. And with all the major wireless networks in the United States offering up some kind of deal to grab a potential customer's interest, being competitive still remains an important factor right out of the gate.
Verizon Wireless is stepping up its switcher promotions in an attempt to get a few more customers from other carriers to join the Big Red ranks. Right now, the carrier is offering up to $650 for someone to switch from one of the other networks. The kicker is you'll need to sign up for a monthly device payment plan (along with your plan), trade in your current device, buy a Verizon phone in its place, and port your old number over to Verizon's network.
The trade-in has to be in good working condition to be eligible, and Verizon says that the new line has to stay active for at least 6 months (or they can charge you that promotional reimbursement money they sent you).
The promotional money that Verizon is offering will be available via a Visa prepaid card, which the carrier says will be shipped out to you within eight weeks after receiving and accepting the trade-in. Verizon is offering up to $650 to pay off a device, or they'll fork over $350 to pay off an early termination fee (ETF).
Do you plan on taking advantage of Verizon's offer?
