The new Samsung Galaxy S7 Active will be exclusive to AT&T

For the fourth year running, AT&T will be the exclusive carrier to offer a ruggedized version of Samsung's latest Galaxy S flagship. This morning, the company announced the Galaxy S7 Active, a tougher version of the popular flagship that features a larger battery, shatter resistance and water resistance.

While the Galaxy S7 Active packs in all of the features of the regular Galaxy S7, it also adds in some improvements to make it a bit less fragile. The S7 Active features shatter resistance for drops of five feet or less onto a flat surface. It also packs in IP68 water resistance for depths of up to five feet for 30 minutes or less.

Additionally, the S7 Active packs a 4000mAh battery, giving it a significant boost in battery life. With fast charging, the battery can also fully charge in less than two hours. Other specs include a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, 32GB of storage plus microSD card slot and a 12-megapixel rear camera.

AT&T will begin selling the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active on June 10. Pricing looks to be about $795 full retail price, with AT&T offering the device through AT&T Next for 30 monthly payments of $26.50. Customers can also use AT&T Next every year to pay $33.13/month for 24 months to get a new device after one year.
