HTC One A9s offers 5-inch 720p HD display, 13MP camera and more

At the end of August, it was rumored that HTC was gearing up to announce a followup to last year's One A9, and today the company did just that.

The One A9s is now official. While the device looks quite similar to the previous model's design, there are a few key changes, including the lack of an "HTC" logo above the fingerprint reader. The rear camera has also been moved over to the corner of the device. The other changes that HTC has made are focused on the specifications, which should help HTC to lower the cost of the One A9s.

That starts with the 5-inch display, which is now a 720p HD Super LCD panel instead of a 1080p AMOLED display that was present in the original One A9. The 13-megapixel camera on the back has a slower f/2.2 aperture (compared to the One A9′s f/2.0). The rear camera doesn't feature optical image stabilization (OIS), either. There's a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on the other side.

Inside the One A9s, there's a MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor, with one variant offering 2GB of RAM with 16GB of built-in storage and another packing 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. There's a microSD card slot as well, and the battery is measured in at 2300mAh.

The pricing and launch window isn't known just yet, but HTC should be getting around to announcing that soon enough.

What do you think of the HTC One A9s?
