Samsung Australia confirms recalled Note 7 will get update limiting charge to 60%

It was rumored that Samsung would update recalled Galaxy Note 7 units to limit their maximum charge to 60 percent, but at that time, Samsung said that this was not an official statement. However, it seems Samsung Australia has finally made it official.

Defective Note 7s purchased in Australia will be updated to cap their maximum charge at 60 percent of the full battery capacity, effectively limiting the battery to 2100mAh. While this is annoying, it might help keep those who are still using defective devices safe.

If you're still using a defective Note 7, there are already replacements available in Australia. Please don't continue using a device that might explode.
