TP-Link announces two Neffos budget smartphones

TP-Link is expanding its smartphone lineup with two budget Android handsets announced at IFA Berlin 2016. The two devices are called the Neffos X1 and Neffos X1 Max.

The Neffos X1 features a 5-inch 720p display, a 1.8GHz Helio P10 octa-core processor, a choice of 2GB RAM + 16GB of memory or 3GB of RAM + 32GB of memory, a microSD slot, a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, and a 2,250mAh battery.

The Neffos X1 Max offers a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a slightly better 2.0GHz Helio P10 octa-core processor, your choice of 3GB RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, a 3,000mAh battery, and many of the same features as the smaller X1.

The devices seem pretty competent, especially with their fingerprint readers and smooth metal bodies. For budget phones, these aren't bad specs. The smaller Neffos X1 will go for €199 (about $222) and the bigger Neffos X1 Max will go for €249 (about $278) when they launch in Q4 of 2016. Both will launch with Android 6.0.
