When the Pixel and Pixel XL launched last year they were the first to carry a Snapdragon 821 processor. Now according to a fresh report it seems that the Snapdragon 836 will make a debut on the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. However, industry sources claim the Samsung Galaxy Note8 won't take advantage of the revised Snapdragon 835 version when it will arrive on August 23. LG's upcoming flagship, the V30 which will be unveiled on August 31 won't get Snapdragon 836 treatment either (most likely). Yet, the Snapdragon 836 won't be exclusive to the new Pixel 2s, as companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus are expected to pick up the chipset and use it for their own products by the end of the year or in early 2018. Not much is known about the Snapdragon 836, although the report say it will be 10% faster than its predecessor, as well as smaller in size. The new version should also allow phones to take better pictures and will consume less power. Given that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are expected to launch sometime in October, we can speculate Qualcomm will unveil the new chipset around that date as well.
