Not content with two new smartwatches, Samsung has announced a third wearable option this Mobile World Congress in the form of a fitness band. It's called the Gear Fit, and it comes with a full color, curved 1.84-inch Super AMOLED display.
Functionality-wise, Gear Fit does little to stand out from the crowd. The Samsung-branded fitness band features a wide variety of sensors, including an accelerometer and gyro for measuring things like steps taken, heart rate, sleep habits and exercise patterns. It can also field notifications for apps and serve as a media control center.
Gear Fit's main differentiator is its color display. The curved Super AMOLED display comes in at 1.84 inches, with a resolution of 432×128. We'll have to wait to get our hands on Gear Fit to know for sure, but at a respectable 245ppi, we imagine the display looks rather impressive. Pair that with interchangeable bands, IP67 dust and water resistance and up to 5 days of battery life and the Gear Fit starts to look like an impressive little device.
Compatible with a wide variety of Samsung devices, Gear Fit will launch worldwide on April 11. Pricing information will be revealed at a later date.
