Samsung to start preloading third-party app bundles on their devices this summer

Thinking about picking up a Galaxy S 5 from a Samsung experience shop this summer? You may get a complementary app bundle whenever you buy your device, according to some recent rumors about Samsung's mid-year plans.

Samsung will be taking into account a customer's interests and jobs and loading a bundle of third-party applications on their devices at the point of activation. A student may get some studying apps or word processing software, while a businessman might get some finance calculators and banking apps. The process by which employees decide which bundle to preload is said to be fairly simple, so it'll likely just be a few questions, not a full psychology test.

Samsung is working on finalizing deals with third-party developers to make this happen, but it looks like the developers won't make any money off of this deal initially. The preloaded apps are likely going to be three-month trials of apps, and the user can then opt to purchase the app at the end of their trial.

It doesn't sound like something everyone would be interested in, but free app trials can't hurt. If anything, it'll drive up sales for Samsung's experience stores and revenue for app developers, which is a win-win situation for everyone. This new process is set to roll out in the summer of 2014.
