Much has been written about Xiaomi's eventual entry in the US market. Back in January, the Chinese company announced its first CES appearance in Las Vegas, so naturally a lot of people assumed the device maker was finally ready to bring its affordable products to US shores (and Canada of course). However, Xiaomi didn't end up launching any smartphones. Since then, ex-Google executive, Hugo Barra who served as Xiaomi's VP, left the company and went to work for Facebook. So after losing its international face of brand, Xiaomi's plans to make it out to the western market were probably put on hold. Now according to a report from CNET, we're able to tell you more about the company's official stance on penetrating the Western world. Xiaomi's senior VP Wang Xiang said the manufacturer stills wants to bring its products to America, but working with carriers is too much of a hassle, so it prefers to focus on emerging markets. Carriers would probably pose a problem for Xiaomi, if the company ever tried making its way to Canada. However, Xiang revealed an interesting detail. He said that 2019 is a realistic goal for Xiaomi products to officially land on the Western market. Let's keep our fingers crossed this means Canada, too.
