ZTE MAX XL launching at Boost Mobile with Android 7.1.1 in tow

ZTE's got a new affordable Android phablet, and it's launching today.

The ZTE MAX XL is hitting Boost Mobile with at a price of $101.99 thanks to a $28 promotional discount. Just because the MAX XL has an affordable price tag doesn't mean that it's got an entry-level spec list, though.

The MAX XL features a 6-inch 1920×1080 display and 5-megapixel camera on its face, and around back there's a 13-megapixel camera with a fingerprint reader below it. Inside the MAX XL's shell lives an octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot. There's also a beefy 3990mAh battery that ZTE says it included for folks that might use the MAX XL as their main computer.

On the software side, the ZTE MAX XL comes preloaded with Android 7.1.1. There are minimal customizations included here, too, which is something that ZTE focused on when making the MAX XL.

It's also worth noting that the ZTE MAX XL includes support for Sprint's High Performance User Experience (HPUE) tech. This network feature enables Sprint's 2.5GHz LTE coverage to reach up to 30 percent farther.

Last year, ZTE launched the ZMAX PRO on MetroPCS and T-Mobile, and the device received praise for offering a big screen and a low price tag. The MAX XL looks to be a similar phone for customers on Sprint, Boost, and Virgin, packing a similarly large display and affordable price tag as well as an even larger battery.
