It's being reported that the first device to use the upcoming Snapdragon 836 will be Google's Pixel 2. Though both the chipset and the device are yet to be announced, this news doesn't come as a surprise. The first device using a specific chipset isn't a big deal in practice, but the title often comes with a bit of prestige. Google securing the Snapdragon 836 first would be a good selling point for a line that has sold relatively poorly. Of course, the Snapdragon 836 won't be exclusive to Google. Many devices from other manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, will use it in the future. Hopefully the small amount of hype around the chip will help Google's sales now that the Pixel name is out there.
