OnePlus 5 receives Android 8.0 Oreo beta update

OnePlus 5 owners, we hope that you've got some free time in your schedule this weekend, because there's a notable beta update now available for your phone.

OnePlus today released OxygenOS Open Beta 1 based on Android 8.0 Oreo for the OnePlus 5. You can now download the beta and flash it to your device and you'll get Open Beta OTAs after you do. Just keep in mind that this is a beta update, so you may encounter some bugs.

As for what's included in the update, there are new Android Oreo features like picture-in-picture, auto-fill, and a new Quick Settings design. OnePlus has thrown in the October 2017 Android security patches, too, as well as launcher tweaks like a new app folder design.

The stable Android 8.0 Oreo update for the OnePlus 5 is expected in early 2018, but we're sure that there are a lot of OP5 owners out there that are excited for Oreo and want to give it a try right now. If that's you, hit the link below to download the Open Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 5.
