Samsung is done with Android Wear

Do you remember the Gear Live? It's been a long while since Samsung released that product, and apparently that was Samsung's first and last device to run Android Wear.

Android Wear had some growing pains, just like any software does right out of the gate, but Samsung decided to go with its own proprietary software instead of Google's alternative. That software is called Tizen OS, and it's been present on Samsung's wearables ever since the Gear Live. And while some may have believed Android Wear could be installed on the Gear Fit 2, which is starting to see plenty of leaks, that's not going to be the case.

Fast Company has confirmed with Samsung that the company doesn't have any plans to bring an Android Wear-based product to the market anytime soon. According to the report, a Samsung executive said that Tizen is far more battery-efficient than any of Android Wear's products, and went on to affirm that Tizen is seeing a bigger rollout in other Samsung-branded products, like refrigerators.

What do you think of Samsung's decision to drop Android Wear?
