Lenovo purchased Motorola from Google a few years back and since then the Chinese tech giant has done a lot to revamp the Moto brand in order to bring it to glory.
In the Western markets Motorola has unveiled a few new interesting phones like the Moto Z Play, but in China, the Moto brand is not so well-known. However, Lenovo has plans to change that. According to a few leaked pictures coming to us via TechDroider, the company apparently has plans to launch the new Moto M soon.
The purported Moto M showed in the photos is model number XT1662 and features a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution. It seems the device will take advantage of a MediaTek CPU which is quite interesting given that Moto devices have been known to rely on Snapdragon processors, historically.
However, given that the Moto M is expected to launch in China, the presence of the MediaTek processor isn't so odd. The phone might be sold with a 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage combo.
In the photo department, the device is said to enjoy the services of a 16MP main camera and an 8MP frontal shooter.
Judging by the images, it would appear that the fingerprint sensor on the Moto M will be located on the back of the device and not on the iconic dimple – another first for Moto devices. It's expected the handset will ship out with a bunch of pre-installed Microsoft apps and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
All seems to indicate towards an interesting mid-range Moto device and the price should be quite affordable also. No word if this model will ever make its way to Canadian markets or not, but we'll wait and see.
