Big HTC Ocean leak reveals specs and features

The upcoming HTC Ocean, or HTC U as it'll likely be called at release, should be launching this month. A close release date always means more leaks, and this one is huge. Almost every detail about the device has been released.

The device is said to have a camera with auto HDR+, an option of 3D audio or lossless high res audio during video recording via four microphones, and smart video zoom.

The edge sensor is a feature that's piqued curiosity. It allows you to squeeze your phone as a shortcut to apps or features. There are sensors in the frame of the phone to detect your squeezing. These shortcuts can even be used when the screen is off.

Other features include stereo speakers top and bottom, no 3.5mm jack, USonic that can adapt audio to your ear canal shape, and Sense Link for computers which allows you to transfer files between your PC and your phone as well as view notifications.

The main specs are what we would expect from a flagship. The addition of a Snapdragon 835 is a good sign, though the 3,000mAh battery is on the small side. There is no Bluetooth 5.0 like in the Samsung Galaxy S8, but that shouldn't be a big deal to most people.

It's unknown whether every market will get the two models, one having 4GB RAM/64GB storage and the other 6GB RAM/128GB storage, as HTC may release only one of the two in some markets. There's also no price, but knowing HTC, it'll be very high for this flagship device.

The phone is looking solid, though some features might be a bit gimmicky. I can't imagine the frame sensors being very useful, but I may be wrong. Let us know what you think of the device in the comments!
