Google Photos rolling out new Archive feature

Google wants to make it easier to clean up your main camera roll in the Photos app, especially for those who might not want to have some photos visible at all times but don't necessarily want to delete them, either.

As noted by Droid-Life, Google today began rolling out a new Archive feature for Google Photos. With it, users can select a photo or video and then archive it into a separate folder. That way they aren't deleted, but they also aren't cluttering up the main photo viewer, either.

To archive, you can select an image or video and then tap on the top-right menu. You'll see Archive as an option, so just tap on that. Or you can slide out the menu from the left, choose the new Archive option, and then select the "+" up there in the top-right of the screen. You'll be able to select photos or videos from that point on.

The new feature begins rolling out today.

Is Google Photos your primary means of storing photos in the cloud?
