HTC U11+ now official with 6-inch display, 128GB of storage and 12MP camera

The HTC U11+ has been a mainstay of the rumor mill for a few weeks, but now HTC has made its latest flagship smartphone official.

The HTC U11+ is perhaps what the original U11 should have been right out of the gate, with some refinements and improvements made in key areas when compared to the handset launched earlier this year. That starts with a 6-inch Super LCD display that has a resolution of 2880×1440, support for wide color gamut, and Gorilla Glass 5. And while the display is bigger than the original U11, the U11+ has reduced bezels to make the phone more comfortable to handle.

Under the hood there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of built-in storage. There's also a model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. A microSD card will support expandable storage up to 2TB. The battery measures in at 3930mAh, and the U11+ is running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with HTC's proprietary Sense UI. The U11+ is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance. There is a fingerprint reader on the back, and the handset also supports HTC's Edge Sense to squeeze the phone to control certain software elements.

The U11+ has a single 12-megapixel camera on the back, sticking with the UltraPixel brand for the third iteration. It has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and "UltraSpeed Autofocus." It has a ƒ/1.7 aperture and dual-LED flash, HDR boost, and face detection. Meanwhile, around front there's an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a ƒ/2.0 aperture and 85-degree field of view.

HTC confirmed that the U11+ will arrive in the United Kingdom on November 20 for £699. When it broadens its reach in Europe it will cost €799, but HTC isn't confirming a specific launch date just yet.

What do you think of the U11+?
