Days after the OnePlus 5T leaked out, the OnePlus CEO is ready to talk about why it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Pete Lau has visted over to OnePlus's official forums to discuss why the OnePlus 5T will keep the 3.5mm headphone jack around a little longer. It's an odd sort of way to confirm a device exists, but this is OnePlus we're talking about, and we've seen the company use the forums to discuss upcoming phones in the past. As for why the OnePlus 5T will have a headphone jack, the OnePlus CEO says a primary reason is the audio quality. Lau explains that 70% of its customers prefer sound quality and that including the headphone jack makes that a reality. With the inclusion of the headphone jack, customers can use a larger variety of headphones, including audiophile-level elite models. In addition, Lau says that the headphone jack is staying around because OnePlus doesn't see an upside to ditching it just yet. Yes, it could make their devices a bit thinner, but removing it doesn't necessarily mean that an improvement in customer experience pops up in its place. As such, OnePlus doesn't see a point to the trade-off. Lau posted the comment on the OnePlus 5T not to discuss any real details about the upcoming handset or its specifications, other than the fact that it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack on board, so there aren't any other details to go through. Now that Lau is talking about the handset on official forums, though, we probably don't have long to wait before the smartphone gets all official. Are you looking forward to the OnePlus 5T?
