Back in October, the YouTube TV team announced that its app would expand in a big way, adding support for Android TV, Xbox One consoles, and Apple TV. The team also confirmed that the app would continue to expand its availability to smart TVs as well, including LG and Samsung televisions. Now owners of select LG and Samsung smart TVs can now download and install the app on their connected television. Here is the official list of devices that officially support YouTube TV as of right now: - Android TV (excluding Xiaomi Mi Box)
- Xbox One, Xbox One S, and the upcoming Xbox One X
- Samsung & LG smart TVs (2016 & 2017)
The addition, which was spotted by Droid-Life, doesn't specify which Samsung or LG smart TVs are supported, but it does say that models from 2016 and 2017 should support it. (The company adds that models from 2014 and 2015 will be supported "soon.") If you have a Samsung-branded smart TV that's from one of the supported years, just open the Apps section on the TV and search for YouTube TV. For supported LG smart TVs, go into the LG Content section and search for YouTube TV to download it. Are you a YouTube TV subscriber? Or were you waiting to sign up for smart TV support?
