LG V40 rumored to feature five cameras and face unlock

LG announced the V30 late last year, and the company is reportedly planning on launching a successor that will have more than a few cameras.

According to a new report from Android Police, the upcoming LG V40 will feature five cameras: two on the front, three on the back. There is still a bit of a mystery regarding what each camera will offer, but it's expected that one or both of the front-facing shooters will support a face unlock feature. If both front cameras are used, then LG could be developing a stereo configuration that allows for a "3D map of the face" recording.

Meanwhile, the V40 will boast three cameras around back: a standard wide lens, LG's ultrawide lens, and the third offering an unknown benefit. It's suggested that the third lens may be dedicated to bokeh effects (where the background is blurred) or it could be a dedicated zoom lens.

The V40 will reportedly also boast Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood, have a notch design similar to the LG G7 ThinQ (which can be "turned off"), and have an overall design that's similar to the G7 in general. The fingerprint reader will be there on the back of the smartphone, too. It's unknown if the V40 will adopt an OLED display, though.

So, five cameras! With this latest rumor, is the LG V40 already on your radar?
