Qualcomm launches three Snapdragon processors, processor for kids watches

Qualcomm has launched three new Snapdragon processors for mobile devices, as well as a dedicated processor for kids watches. First up is the Snapdragon 632 processor, which is designed for mid-range smartphones. The Snapdragon 632 features support for AI, 4K video capture, and carrier aggregation for LTE. It boasts an Adreno 506 GPU and can support single 24-megapixel cameras or dual 13-megapixel cameras.

The Snapdragon 439 and 429 processors are both designed for entry-level devices. Both processors feature support for AI and improve efficiency by 40%, a win for users who deal with poor battery life. The Snapdragon 439 features an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 505 GPU for better performance and greater camera support. The Snapdragon 429 uses an Adreno 504 GPU and has support for lower resolution cameras.

Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon Wear 2500, a processor specifically designed for kids smartwatches. The Wear 2500 touts extended battery life, Qualcomm's fifth generation LTE modem, and an optimized version of Android for kids. The sophisticated network components are designed for geofencing, allowing parents to monitor their child's location. Plus, the processor supports AI voice assistants, NFC, and up to a 5-megapixel camera, allowing for video calls.

Huawei is working with Qualcomm to launch the first kids smartwatch that will use the Wear 2500 processor.
