Updates have always been a pretty touchy subject in the Android world and manufacturers have been doing their best to ease customer worries with different sorts of software guarantees. Well it looks like Google is also readying a guarantee for their Nexus devices and this program could be announced soon.
According to a source who spoke with Android Police, Google will announce this new upgrade guarantee at the unveiling of Android M which many expect will happen at Google I/O this year. The source goes on to say that Nexus devices will receive major system updates for two years after the release and security patches for three years from the OS release date. These rules will also apply to current Nexus devices meaning devices like the Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 2012 will most likely not get Android M but may still receive some security updates.
While this information can't be guaranteed as "nothing is official till its official," Android Police is very confident in the source.
