We haven't heard much about the HTC One mini 2 since its debut in mid-2014. That's changing today, but unfortunately, the news isn't good.
HTC has confirmed that the One mini 2 won't be updated to Android 5.0. The company told one Twitter user that the miniaturized version of the One M8 won't get Lollipop because it "will not provide an optimal experience."
@EdoardoBerti We determined that Lollipop on the One mini 2 will not provide an optimal experience; it isn't scheduled to receive the update

It's always a bummer to hear that a phone won't receive a major OS update, but that's especially true in this instance since the HTC One mini 2 is only one year old. HTC didn't elaborate on how the One mini 2's Lollipop experience isn't "optimal," but it may have had something to do with the Lollipop-powered Sense software and the phone's combination of a Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM. Whatever the case, we're betting that today's news has put a damper on the weekends of One mini 2 owners.
