LG and Huawei might each make a new Nexus phone in 2015

The Nexus 6 and its big display turned out to be pretty divisive, with some folks digging the large screen and others feeling that it's simply to gigantic for daily use. If a new rumor is to be believed, Google is planning to appease both camps in 2015.

A new report says that Google is working with LG and Huawei on two new Nexus smartphones for release this year. The LG model is reportedly codenamed "Angler" and is said to feature a 5.2-inch display, hexa-core Snapdragon 808, and 2700mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Huawei-made "Bullhead" may pack a 5.7-inch screen, octa-core Snapdragon 810, and a larger 3500mAh battery to help power those beefier components.

This dual Nexus phone approach will reportedly come at the expense of a new Nexus tablet, as Google is said to be sticking with the Nexus 9 in 2015 instead of launching a new model.

Traditionally, Google has released just one Nexus phone each year, but in 2015 it might want to appease both sides of the Nexus 6 size argument by releasing two differently-sized handsets. If the report holds true, it'll be interesting to see if Google responds to the other common complaint about the Nexus 6 — its price — and offers one or both new phones at a cost more like the N4 and N5.
