While we wait to see if the DROID Turbo's new soak test is for an Android 5.1 update, Motorola has confirmed that it is indeed soak testing 5.1 for two other phones.
Motorola's David Schuster says that Android 5.1 update soak tests are now underway for the Verizon Moto X (2nd Gen.) and the Moto G (1st Gen.) with 4G LTE in the US. He goes on to say that so long as the Verizon Moto X (2nd Gen.)'s test goes smoothly, Motorola will make the update available to more users next week.
Finally, Schuster has shared some information about the Moto E (1st Gen.)'s Android 5.1 soak test in Brazil and India. He explains that Motorola recently ran into a bug that caused it some trouble, but has since been squashed with the help of a third-party. The Moto E (1st Gen.)'s Android 5.1 soak test has since resumed.
We've praised HTC in the past for being open and transparent about the progress of its Android OS updates, and it's good to see Motorola doing the same thing. Waiting for an OS update can be difficult, especially when you see other devices getting the update that you want, but at least Motorola is keeping us in the loop in regards to the testing of its updates and how close they are to getting a public release.
