If the Sony Xperia XZs and its Motion Eye camera tech impressed you back at MWC, then you'll be glad to hear that the phone is launching this week. Amazon is taking pre-orders for the unlocked Sony Xperia XZs, with units expected to begin shipping out tomorrow, April 5. Pricing is set at $699, and color choices include Black, Ice Blue, and Warm Silver. As we mentioned above, the 19-megapixel camera with Motion Eye is one of the Xperia XZs's highlight features. This includes Predictive Capture, a feature that'll snap four images when the camera senses motion but before you hit the shutter button so that you don't miss the action that you're trying to capture. Other features of this 19-megapixel camera include faster image scanning, 4K video recording, and 960fps slow-motion video capture.
The Sony Xperia XZs is also packing a 13-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD slot. There's also a 2900mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and USB-C, and water resistance. The XZs is running Android 7.1 on a 5.2-inch 1920×1080 display. One feature that's not present here is a fingerprint reader, which is disappointing but also not surprising considering that other recent unlocked Sony releases in the US haven't had fingerprint readers, either. If you can look past that lack of a fingerprint reader and really want to try the Xperia XZs's 19-megapixel camera with 960fps slo-mo video capture, you can pre-order using the Amazon link below.
