The OnePlus 5 will feature a Snapdragon 835 processor

Like last year, OnePlus has decided to use the weeks ahead of any planned unveiling of its next flagship to start teasing the bits and pieces that will go into making it a real device.

Now OnePlus has taken to its forums to talk about performance for the upcoming OnePlus 5, confirming what we already expected: The OnePlus 5 will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor under the hood. That's the top-of-the-line chipset at the moment, so the upcoming OnePlus-branded flagship will have plenty of power running the show.

OnePlus also talks about optimizing the software on the OnePlus 5, admitting that just having a powerful processor isn't good enough when it comes to creating a great user experience. The company says they used a "special high-speed camera" to track screen movements and measure input speeds, as it relates in part to touch latency. Basically, OnePlus wants to make sure that activating things on the touchscreen are responsive and not plagued with issues.

At this point, OnePlus has already confirmed it will be skipping the number four and going straight to OnePlus 5 this year. On top of that, the company will be teaming up with DxO for the camera inside the flagship. We've also seen what's believed to be a prototype for the upcoming device, and OnePlus has already started teasing color options.

We should probably expect to see OnePlus teasing a lot from here on out, until they finally get around to announcing the OnePlus 5 properly. Are you eagerly anticipating the new flagship's arrival?
