Dual rear cameras are not a new development. Despite their recent surge in popularity, there have been many devices with dual cameras before, and many have actually been HTC devices. The HTC One M8 had a "Duo Camera" setup, which used a secondary sensor for depth data to create a bokeh effect (much like some budget devices like the Honor 6X do now). And even before that was the HTC EVO 3D, which used dual cameras for a 3D effect that could be viewed on its glasses-free 3D display. Though the company has recently been making devices with a single camera on the rear, HTC says that dual camera devices will be coming in 2018. It seems like playing catch up but it's just adjusting to the market. HTC also announced that it will only release five or six devices next year, potentially including budget devices around the $300 price point. With HTC having a legacy in smartphone cameras, we can't wait to see what the company has in store. Android Match
