The Pixel 2 XL is the bigger of the two new flagships from Google, and while the handset is a powerhouse of specs and features, it has also been beset with a litany of display issues. It started with the display, a pOLED panel manufactured by LG, which included reports of screen burn-in. Google was been quick to comment on these issues, saying software updates are inbound that will address the complaints. The company also extended the manufacturer's warranty for both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL to two years, which should cover the majority of owners for the time they own the handset. Now another issue with the Pixel 2 XL has apparently cropped up. As reported by Android Police, some Pixel 2 XL owners are receiving their units without an operating system installed on the device. Many folks have been taking to the Reddit forums and the Ars Technica forums to address their complaints and find other unlucky Pixel 2 XL owners. Apparently Android is not installed properly on the affected handsets. There is a link that Google suggests owners should go to (on a different device, of course), but as many have pointed out, that link doesn't lead anywhere helpful as the particular error message is not listed as being an issue. The only fix at this point appears to be to send the afflicted Pixel 2 XL back to Google and hope that not only does the replacement come with Android installed as it should, but also arrives in a timely fashion. Have you run into this issue, or know anyone who has? Android Match
