The December security patch was announced yesterday, which fixes the infamous KRACK issue. Today's Oreo 8.1 update for Pixel and Nexus devices includes this patch, but Google isn't the only one pushing it. Today the Essential Phone is being updated to build NMJ51B, which contains the December security patch. The update has no other major changes, but it's great to see Essential be so diligent with security updates and push a security patch the same day as Pixel devices. Could the Essential Phone be the replacement for the affordable Nexus devices of years past? If you own one of these devices, head to the settings to check for new updates and let us know what you think of Essential's updates in the comments! Android Match
