Fortnite for Android may launch as a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 exclusive

It was announced back in March that the mega-popular game Fortnite Battle Royale was coming to iOS and Android, with iOS getting the go-ahead before Android.

In May, it was reported that the expectation was that Fortnite's battle royale mode would arrive on Android sometime in the summer, but no exact dates were pegged down. Well, things might be taking an interesting turn, as reported on Thursday by 9to5Google and xda-developers.

According to unnamed sources, the publications state that Samsung has worked out an exclusive deal with Epic Games which will see Fortnite as an exclusive Android launch title for the upcoming Galaxy Note 9. That exclusive agreement might extend to 30 days, after which the game will become available for more Android devices.

The report indicates that Samsung plans on launching pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 9 on August 14, following its unveiling on August 9. It will then go on sale on August 24. If that timeframe checks out, then that means Fortnite will be available for Galaxy Note 9 owners on August 24, and then for other Android devices on September 23 or so.

The source also says that there will be a promotion tied to pre-orders of the Galaxy Note 9. If you do pre-order the phone, the source says you'll get between $100 and $150 of V-Bucks to use in the game. V-Bucks are the in-game currency used to buy items like new character models, axes, gliders, and emotes.

Fortnite doesn't need help in promotion, and the launch on Android is already an anticipated event. So the fact that Samsung may have been able to gobble up 30 days of exclusivity for its upcoming phablet is pretty interesting. Will you pick up a Galaxy Note 9 just to get to play Epic's popular battle royale game right at launch?
