Acer introduces Iconia One 7 and Iconia Tab 7, a pair of 7-inch Android tablets

Acer just got finished announcing two new Android tablets for those in the market for a 7-incher. First up to bat is the Iconia One 7, a newly-refreshed version of the B1-720 tablet the company introduced at CES last year.

This version is nearly the same, except it comes with a sharpter 1280 x 800 resolution to bring it out of the stone ages of sub-HD. The device will feature Intel's ATOM Z2560 processor, and should be launching with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (but fret not — KitKat is expected at some point after launch).

Secondly is the Iconia Tab 7, which will also be a 1280 x 800 device that brings some phone calling functionality to the slate. The market for these things haven't been terribly large, but apparently there's some need for them.

Under the hood will be a MediaTek quad-core processor, and it will launch with Android 4.4 KitKat. There will be cellular connectivity, but you sadly won't be getting anything past 3G.

These tablets are no doubt positioned for emerging markets and people who don't want to spend a fortune on connected tablets, though we're still trying to figure out exact plans for pricing and availability. Be sure to stay tuned as we dig for more.
